THE NEXT CHAPTER

Forty years on the road. A stronger network than ever. And now, a Brand New World.

By Stan — Terra Nueva Journalist

Apparently, I’ve now been brought into the House of Tours Global camp as well. My brief is relatively simple: have a look at what’s been happening, make some sense of it and explain it to everyone else. Which is probably just as well. Because while House of Tours Global has been quietly getting artists, productions, equipment and occasionally slightly stressed human beings around the world, its founder, Stu Phillips, has spent the last couple of years building something rather bigger alongside it. That something is Terra Nueva – A Brand New World. And if you’re wondering whether that means House of Tours Global is being replaced, wound down or disappearing into some virtual universe... No. Quite the opposite. The House of Tours Global network is stronger than ever — and it is becoming an important part of what comes next.

Let me explain.

ONE CALL GETS IT ALL

House of Tours Global was built around one deliberately straightforward philosophy: “One Call gets It All”

Behind those five words sits more than forty years of experience across music touring, live events, venues, production and international logistics. The principle is simple. Artists, managers, Tour Managers and Production Managers already have enough problems without searching for a different supplier every time they need something. So House of Tours Global built a network.

Today, that network can provide access to:

  • Tour Direction and Tour Management

  • Touring and Production Consultancy

  • Production and Event Management

  • Splitter and gear vans

  • Tour buses and sleeper coaches

  • Trucks and ground transport

  • Air, sea and road freight

  • Carnets and customs

  • Visas and Certificates of Sponsorship

  • Backline

  • Audio, lighting, video, LED and SFX

  • Production and touring crew

  • Rehearsals and storage

  • Travel and accommodation

  • Insurance

  • Livestreaming and content production

  • International touring support

But a network like this isn't really about how many companies you can put into a database. It's about relationships. Knowing who to call. Knowing who is genuinely good at what they do. Knowing who answers the phone when something goes wrong. And knowing that when someone says, “Leave it with me,” you can actually leave it with them. You don't build that overnight. You build it over decades on the road.

THEN TERRA NUEVA HAPPENED...

This is where the story takes a rather interesting turn. After spending most of his working life helping put shows on stages, Stu started asking a different question.

Not simply: How can we tour better?

But:

What else can a live performance become?

Traditionally, a concert has had a fairly brutal lifespan. Months of planning. Days of production. Hours of performance. Then the house lights come on, everything gets packed into trucks and everybody moves to the next city. But the entertainment world around that model has changed enormously. Audiences are global. Livestreaming is mainstream. Gaming environments are becoming entertainment platforms. Virtual production is changing filmmaking. Real-time engines can build extraordinary interactive worlds. Motion capture and volumetric technologies can capture human performances. AI is accelerating almost everything. And digital twins are beginning to blur the boundary between physical and virtual spaces. Those ideas eventually became:

TERRA NUEVA — A BRAND NEW WORLD

Terra Nueva is now being developed from Dundee, Scotland. And that's significant. Dundee has a strong history in gaming and creativity and is building an increasingly vibrant ecosystem around real-time technology, virtual production, immersive entertainment, and digital innovation. Terra Nueva is bringing those worlds together with something Stu already understands rather well: Live entertainment. Music. Film. Gaming. Sport. Live events. Livestreaming. Virtual production. Immersive technology. Digital twins. Global audiences.

Rather than treating these as completely separate industries, Terra Nueva is exploring what happens when they begin to connect. And there's an important distinction here. Terra Nueva isn't trying to replace the live experience. The physical event remains at the centre. The opportunity is to make that event reach further, live longer and become more valuable.

THE TRIPLE LIVE EXPERIENCE

One of the central ideas being developed through Terra Nueva is the Triple Live Experience. It begins with something decidedly old-fashioned.

THE LIVE SHOW

An artist. A stage. An audience. Amplifiers. Lights. Noise. Sweat. Occasionally beer. In other words, the bit nobody wants technology to replace.

THE LIVE STREAM

That same performance can simultaneously reach an audience far beyond the physical capacity of the venue. The room might hold hundreds or thousands.

The potential digital audience doesn't have the same limitation.

THE LIVE CAPTURE

Then things become considerably more interesting. Terra Nueva is exploring technologies including markerless motion capture, volumetric capture, AI, spatial audio, real-time engines and digital twins to understand how a performance can move beyond the physical venue. Potentially into virtual venues. Games. Interactive experiences. Digital worlds. New content formats. And probably several things nobody has thought of yet. Which, frankly, is half the fun.

INTRODUCING TERRA NUEVA PRODUCTIONS

Of course, there is a slight problem with spending all your time talking about virtual worlds. Somebody still has to build the actual bloody show. Enter Terra Nueva Productions.

This is the new live production and events arm of the Terra Nueva ecosystem. Terra Nueva Productions is being developed to bring together traditional live production with the newer technologies, content opportunities and global audiences being explored by Terra Nueva. Its scope includes:

Live Music • Festivals • Theatre • Conferences • Corporate Events • Film Premieres • Sport • Gaming • Esports • Community Events • Livestreaming • Hybrid Events • Immersive Experiences

And here's where this entire story starts making considerably more sense. Terra Nueva Productions doesn't need to spend the next twenty years building a network of touring and production contacts.

House of Tours Global already has one.

HOUSE OF TOURS GLOBAL: THE REAL-WORLD BACKBONE

This is perhaps the most important point. Terra Nueva has not replaced House of Tours Global. It has expanded what House of Tours Global can become part of. Because however clever the technology gets, somebody still needs to deal with reality. How does the artist get there? Where does the equipment come from? Who provides the production? Where's the bus? Where's the truck? Who booked the crew? Who sorted the carnet? Where is everybody sleeping? Who is advancing tomorrow? And why is somebody asking that question five minutes before doors?

Technology may change entertainment. It doesn't magically make production disappear. That gives the three parts of this increasingly interesting operation very clear roles.

TERRA NUEVA

Explores where entertainment can go next.

TERRA NUEVA PRODUCTIONS

Creates and delivers the physical, hybrid and immersive experiences.

HOUSE OF TOURS GLOBAL

Provides the touring, production, logistics, management and international network helping make it all happen.

Three connected operations. One increasingly connected vision.

AND WHAT ABOUT STU?

There is another misconception worth clearing up. With so much attention going into Terra Nueva, it would be easy to assume that Stu has hung up the laminate, abandoned the tour bus and disappeared permanently into a room full of people discussing digital twins.

Not quite.

After forty years in music touring and live entertainment, he remains very much available for the right touring and management roles.

Specifically:

TOUR DIRECTOR, TOUR MANAGER, TOURING CONSULTANT, EVENT & PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT, STRATEGIC LIVE ENTERTAINMENT PROJECTS

That could mean joining an established tour. Building a touring operation with an artist or management company. Reviewing budgets and logistics. Advancing and supplier coordination. Production planning. Troubleshooting. Or simply providing an experienced pair of eyes before an expensive problem becomes an extremely expensive problem. And there's arguably more value in that experience today than ever. Touring costs have increased. Margins are under pressure. Production expectations continue to rise. Artists need to reach audiences in different ways. And the relationship between the physical show and the digital audience is changing rapidly. The next generation of touring will require experience from the old world combined with an understanding of the new one. Conveniently, that's pretty much where House of Tours Global now finds itself.

THE NETWORK IS GETTING BIGGER

Perhaps the most interesting development isn't actually technological. It's human. House of Tours Global has spent decades building relationships throughout touring, production, logistics, venues and live entertainment. Terra Nueva is now adding completely different people to that conversation. Game developers. Technologists. Universities. Virtual production specialists. Filmmakers. Motion-capture experts. Immersive creators. Digital artists. Businesses. Investors. Creative organisations. People who might never previously have found themselves sitting around the same table as a Tour Manager or Production Manager. And that's potentially where something genuinely interesting begins to happen. Because innovation rarely comes from everyone in a room already agreeing with each other. It comes from putting people together who look at the same problem completely differently.

The House of Tours Global network isn't getting smaller because of Terra Nueva. It's getting considerably bigger.

FORTY YEARS ON THE ROAD. AND A NEW CHAPTER BEGINS.

There is something rather appropriate about all of this. House of Tours Global represents decades of knowledge about how entertainment actually works in the real world. Terra Nueva Productions takes that knowledge into new productions, events and experiences. And Terra Nueva asks where all of it might go next. Some experiences will happen on stages. Some will happen on screens. Some will happen inside digital worlds. The really interesting ones will probably exist somewhere between all three. But underneath all the technology, there's still a wonderfully simple principle holding everything together.

Good people.

Strong relationships.

Experience.

Trust.

And knowing who to call when something needs to happen. Which brings us neatly back to where House of Tours Global started. Your ONE CALL really does GETS IT ALL!

Forty years later, that still works. It just covers a considerably bigger world now.
